Boulder Reef at Dykkerklubben Marsvinet

The stone reef consists of 1,000 tons of stone, and is set around the underwater life in Lillebælt (the Little Belt). The reef is located right at the diving club Marsvinet-Lillebælt, at Ceramics Museum Denmark.

How to find: Coming from Brovejen (Road 161) turn at Hessgade. At the end of the street (at Café Razz), turn left and you can find parking space on the harbour front.

Getting in and up the water: The reef is an extension of the shore. Enter/get up by the boat slide. Swim around the small bridge and follow the stone circle to the reef, which starts just off the clubhouse of the diving club Marsvinet Lillebælt.
Highlights: Unique opportunity to follow how the plant - and wildlife occupies a newly established reef and how life develops over time. Discover how the species are adapted to the environment surrounding them, which is why the species composition varies according to the depth.

Best season: All year round
Dangerous areas: Avoid getting out in the belt and make sure your diving spot is clearly marked with A-flag. Sailing close to land occurs throughout the year.
Depth: 0 -20 metres.
Tide: Can be strong further out, but rarely close to the beach. Keep an eye on the movement of the buoys and check the sea prognosis before entering the water.

Facilities: The nearest parking space is at Middelfart Gl. Havn (Old harbour), where there also is a toilet available.

A collaboration between the Municipality of Middelfart Nature & Environment Department and marine biologist Søren Larsen results in 2 reefs in Lillebælt (the Little Belt) just off Middelfart; one by Kongebro Forest (at the diving club), and one at Søbadet. The two reefs will give nature the opportunity to develop the unique environment on such a reef.
