Filmtaget

Under both warm and cool skies, Cinemateket's open air cinema Filmtaget is open all year round.

There's another rooftop in the Copenhagen club - but this one is something very special. In addition to being an exhibition and a restaurant, Filmtaget is an open air cinema. On Købmagergade in the centre of Copenhagen, overlooking the entire Copenhagen skyline, Cinemateket has opened a cinema on top of the building.

When the weather is not suitable for the open air, the cinema can be covered, so no matter the season, it is possible to watch films on top of Copenhagen. It's free to visit the film roof, but you have to buy tickets for the films, which you can find on the website.

In addition to taking a trip to Himmelbio, you can explore the film exhibition on the 1700 m2 roof terrace. Danish film is the focal point of the seven interactive exhibition pavilions, presenting highlights from the birth of the film medium to the present day. Here you can watch iconic clips from popular folk comedies, experiment with the rules of dogma, learn about the great film artists and read fan letters to silent film stars. For the younger ones, there are two children's areas with film quizzes and children's films.

You can also enjoy food and drink at Filmtagets Spiseri & Bar, which offers both indoor and outdoor seating. It is run by Meyers, who also run the Cinemateket's restaurant and café on the ground floor.
