Kulturringen Rosenvold - Hjarnø

Explore this bicycle route that will take you from Vejle Fjord to Horsens Fjord. The route offers varied nature with beaches, meadow, hills, valleys, and forests – and even an island. Here, far from the hustle and bustle of the big city, you can unwind and become one with nature.

From one fjord to another

Kulturringen Rosenvold-Hjarnø is a 46-kilometre-long waymarked bicycle route on the Juelsminde Peninsula. The route follows the dramatic, forested northern coast of Vejle Fjord and turns north through a constantly changing terrain with villages, fields, forests, and hills until you reach Horsens Fjord and the charming island Hjarnø – the destination of this route.

Nature and culture en route

The starting point of this route is the little marina in Rosenvold. In Rosenvold you can also visit the fine sandy beach. The route now takes you to the village of Stouby and further west to Rohden river valley. In Stouby you might want to do a detour and drive on Fakkegravsvej on National Bicycle Route 5 to the beautiful spa resort Hotel Vejlefjord where you can go for a walk in the beautiful park. At the hotel brasserie, you can enjoy a great meal for lunch.

At Rohden river valley you will encounter more beautiful nature. You will pass Daugård Beach before heading up the steep hill, Askebjerg. From here you have a great view of the fjord and the area.

The tour now continues through the village of Daugård and the forests north of it. From here you will pass through several small villages in a rural area characterized by agriculture. In Bjerre you can see the fascinating old goal and a beautiful mill. Now head through the hilly Bjerre Forest that offers one of the best mountain bike trails in Denmark, more than 15 kilometres long.

Continue through the villages Stourup and Glud where you will pass two interesting museums, Denmark’s Ferguson Museum and the open-air museum in Glud.

At the marina in Snaptun you can take a break, enjoy an ice cream and sense the maritime atmosphere at the harbour. When you are ready, get on the Hjarnø Ferry and experience the little island in the inlet of Horsens Fjord. Hjarnø oozes of tranquility and idyll. Drive around the island and see Denmark’s second smallest church, a Viking grave, several fine beaches, and preserved nature.
