Lindø - Industripark

Lindø Industrial Park - Port of Odense
Lindø Shipyard was built in response to the desire for larger ships after the Suez crisis in 1956 and for a period in the 1970s was the world's largest shipyard. The village of Munkebo was shaped so that the need for housing and shopping opportunities for the workers on the shipyards and the population increased fivefold in just 10 years. Lindø lasted longer than most yards, but in 2009 the competition became too much and the yard closed. However, the area has seen a renaissance in recent years, where it is used for commercial purposes.
