Ranes Banke
In St. Tarnby at Kratgarden farm is a barrow with the ancient name of Ranes Banke (Rane’s Hill). According to legend, Rane Jonsen was led to the top of this hill to have a view of his lost properties before he was beheaded.
Climbing the barrow on a quiet, clear summer evening while the sun is setting in the west, you will experience a view that is almost unforgettable: To the north, Koege Bay stretches before you with Copenhagen in the background, add to this the entire northern part of Stevns with Stroeby Church, Magleby Church, Gjorslev Castle, Holtug Church, Klippinge Hills, Varpelev Church and in the far distance you will see Store Heddinge Church.
